Before his fists echo in the boxing ring, boxing superstar and Saranggani Province Rep. Manny Pacquiao made sure that his voice will be heard in the political arena.

During yesterday’s session of the House of Representatives, Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado ‘Dato’ Arroyo delivered a privilege speech in defense of his mother, former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who received accusations of corruption from opposing lawmakers.

Bayan Muna Party-list Rep. Teddy CasiƱo can’t resist letting the younger Arroyo walk away uncontested so he decided to return fire with a speech that made the elder Arroyo leave the plenary hall.

For a seven-division boxing champ who has to deal with internal feuds within hs posse, you would think that Manny Pacquiao is used to such arguments and would simply ignore this verbal tussle. However, all this bickering actually got to him. From GMA News.TV:

Nais kong hilingin sa lahat na masyado na tayong naabala sa isyu na yan. Kung kailangan magsalita ng hindi magandang words dapat in proper forum. Masyado tayong naantala o nade-delay sa ating mga pag-uusapan. Sa tingin ko we have to move on," Pacquiao said.

(I want to convey to my fellow lawmakers that we’ve been so engrossed with that issue that our legislative work is suffering delays. I think we have to move on.)

Wow! Well said. For a neophyte legislator, Pacman is making a good impression. Thanks to TV networks highlighting politicians squabbling among themselves, I was starting to think that we’re paying these guys to expose each others’ anomalies. In comes Pacquiao reminding everyone that as lawmakers, they got more important matters to attend to and that they won’t be able to accomplish anything unless they set their differences aside.

Pacman has still a lot to prove as congressman, as a Carpenters’ song goes: We’ve Only Just Begun. But with the attitude he just displayed, he seems to be on the right track.

If you were a kid growing up in the 90s, chances are, you’ve seen and watched the Power Rangers.

The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.

The Power Rangers is a Westernized version of Super Sentai Series like Maskman and Bioman.

We always adored how these masked superheroes in colored outfits fought off baddies with martial arts and hi-tech weaponry in order to save the planet. And at the end of every show, we crave in anticipation for the next episode so we can see these guys engage in another well-choreographed fight scene. Why choreographed? Because it’s the only way these rainbow avengers could win a bout. You don’t really expect them to win a real fight, more so, excel in a combat sport do you?

Actually, it turns out they could. Well, at least one of them.

Jason Frank, popularly known as the Green Ranger, signed up with SuckerPunch Entertainment, a sports marketing and management company specializing in MMA, back in August 2009. Since then, he has participated in five fights, four of which in the amateur ranks and one in the pros. Frank won his recent outing against Jose Roberto Vasquez via Rear Naked Choke Submission. Way to go, go, go, Power Ranger.

For the video, check out the link below (you’ll see Frank’s bout at the 0:55 mark) and as a bonus, you get to see Lebron James dunk on some kids:
