Arenas, Richardson and Turkoglu will be joining the Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic may have been on the upper echelon of the NBA for the past few seasons, but this is one group that won't rest on its laurels. They want to win, and they want to win now.

So they'll be getting rid of two fading All-Stars to get productive players in return.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Magic will be receiving Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu from the Phoenix Suns, in exchange for Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, Mickael Pietrus, a 2011-first round pick and $3 million.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards will be sending Gilbert Arenas to Florida for Rashard Lewis.

Looking at the Suns-Magic trade, I think it's safe to say that it's a win-win situation.

For the Magic, Richardson is definitely an upgrade from VC who disappears during playoff games and is on the decline. The Magic should also be happy to see Hedo in Amway Center. After all, the point forward has been instrumental during their run in the 2009 Finals.

Aside from hitting the outside shot, Turkoglu can get the ball to Dwight Howard in times that the point guards can't. I'm just worried about the departure of Gortat and Pietrus. While the Polish center has expressed his desire to leave Orlando, he has proven that he's been an effective back-up center for D12. I just can't think of anyone on the Magic roster who can relieve Howard other than Ryan Anderson. And Pietrus, even though he's injured now, has shown that he can contribute on both ends of the floor.

Which now leads us to the Suns who are either rebuilding or badly in love with vets. Carter, Grant Hill and Steve Nash - talk about oldies but goodies. But alongside these dinosaurs are some experienced youngsters: Josh Childress, Goran Dragic, Hakim Warrick, Robin Lopez, Jared Dudley and Channing Frye. Hmmm. Not really a group that'll get you an NBA title on the fly, but looks promising if you're rebuilding. Add a 2011-first round pick in the mix and you're on the right path.

And since Robert Sarver isn't exactly Marc Cuban, the Suns could use the $3 million. But if the Suns are rebuilding, what happens to the old guys?

Well, I'm guessing their just gonna wait for Carter's contract to expire and trade Nash or Hill, or Nash and Hill, for an upcoming All-Star.

For the Wizards deal, well, meh. The result of this deal can go either way, bad or good. Let's start with the good.

For the Magic, Arenas can help them score. He may not be the same assassin he was back in 2005-2007, but he has shown in some games that he can still channel the inner Hibachi in him. If he's another Ron Artest in the making, he just might be waiting for a good team to take a chance on him so he can lead them to The Promised Land.

The Wizards on the other hand get Lewis. Playing with the penetrating John Wall, Lewis could be reduced to a spot-up shooter. But that should be good for him. At times, Lewis was pressured to create his own shots with the Magic, especially when Turk left. But with a good PG in Wall, that shouldn't be the case. Unlike Jameer Nelson who usually hangs around the perimeter, Wall attacks the rim, forcing defenses to collapse on him and free up shooters. And that should help Lewis get his numbers back up.

Now the bad. For the Magic, well, they shouldn't get too excited when they get a player who can be compared to Artest. Sure, Artest is now a champion, both on and off the court. But you can't completely forget about the Malice at the Palace. Arenas' reputation, which happens to be bad, precedes him. If he ends up going crazy on the Magic, D12, Stan van Gundy, and the rest of the team can kiss their championship aspirations goodbye. Just hope that SVG has what it takes to tame Gil.

And for the Wiz, RL isn't the piece their looking for. Oh he's a good piece alright. But he's not enough to give them a return ticket to the post-season.
