Ricardo can beat an NBA All-Star with his eyes closed

Beating three former NBA MVPs, a Sixth Man of the Year and a four-time NBA All-Star in a game of Pop-a-Shot can do wonders for your career.

Just ask Ricardo the busboy.

From being an unknown busboy in some bar in Los Angeles, California, Ricardo has transformed into an Internet sensation whose YouTube videos score millions of hits. He's also won himself several TV appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But probably the most important upside to Ricardo's newfound fame is a super-sized confidence boost. Just refer to the video below so you know what I'm talking about.

I knew he was good, but didn't think he was that good. Not that I haven't seen people make shots on a Pop-a-Shot machine while blindfolded. Last May 14, I covered the 2011 Street Basketball with the Siopao Master and saw Gilbert Ochongco score 222 points with nothing but muscle memory. Of course, it's kind of difficult to compare his and Ricardo's feats. First of all, they were using different kinds of machines. Second the stakes are different. While Ochongco was in it for the prize, Ricardo was playing for pride, and to entertain the crowd at JKL. And lastly, Ochongco was competing against Average Joes and Janes, popularity wise, compared to a big name athlete who's a foot and three inches taller than you. Talk about intimidating personalities.

Ricardo has walked away victorious in another gunfight, but Blake Griffin deserves some props too. Off the court, the LA Clippers forward doesn't do a lot of things that would attract attention, plus, he's a man of a few words. But the reaction to the jump ball and his statement during the post-game interview really cracked me up. Maybe he should consider some TV appearances as well. Lookout Pau Gasol. You're not the only LA big man getting some cameos from this day on.

Going back to Ricardo. This guy's got some mad skills in Pop-a-Shot. And with the competition he's been beating, this guy deserves some product endorsements. Call me crazy, but in the Philippines, he'd be one heck of a marketing tool. Maybe he should also get invited to Pop-a-Shot tourneys. If not as a participant, maybe as a guest of honor. I'm looking at you organizers of the 6th China Cup. (via Ball don't Lie)
